Land of Children Foundation

Land of Children Foundation was founded by Father Aloysius Schwartz, an American priest who dedicated his life to helping the poor. Inspired by a visit to Banneux and the message of Our Lady of Banneux, he decided to follow his calling by establishing World Villages for children in South Korea, where thousands of orphans lived on the streets as a result of the Korean War.

These World Villages provide orphans, abandoned children, and children from extremely poor families with a safe place to live, three balanced meals a day, secondary education, vocational training, and medical care. Father Al’s work was internationally recognized, with nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize and the receipt of the Magsaysay Award for International Understanding and the Mother Teresa Award from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce.

The Sisters of Mary, founded by Father Aloysius Schwartz in 1964, manage the World Villages and other projects in countries such as the Philippines, Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil, Honduras, and Tanzania. With over 370 sisters, they provide more than 20,000 children annually with shelter, food, education, and preparation for a better future. Additionally, they manage shelters, hospitals, schools, and organize training and vocational programs.
