Music Elixir npo brings joy and comfort to the elderly in care homes through moving live music. It all began in 2016 with Duo Fines Fleurs, founded by a violist and pianist Sylvia Bernier, who played familiar melodies for the elderly. Their music touched the hearts of many and quickly became a great success. In just a few years, they brought their music to more than 150 care homes, reaching approximately 7,500 elderly people.
With the establishment of Music Elixir npo in 2018, the number of musicians contributing to this mission grew to over 65. The variety in musicians and styles brings diversity and joy, both to the residents and the care teams.
The Bedside Concert, an intimate initiative where music is brought to bedridden elderly people, also started in 2018. This concept, which could continue even during the COVID-19 pandemic, offers the elderly a chance to process deep emotions and experience feelings of trust, comfort, and happiness through music. The personal approach of the musicians, who listen to and respond to the emotions of the elderly, makes each performance unique and special.
Music Elixir npo remains committed to enriching the lives of the elderly with live music, comforting them, and reconnecting them with their deepest emotions.
